STUDENT CONVERSATIONS · FAMILY GUIDANCE

Ask someone who studies there.

A course page tells you what is offered. A current student can describe the workload, teaching and everyday life. Prepare your questions, then request a conversation when a checked volunteer is available.

A PRIVATE INTRODUCTION

A request comes first. A meeting comes later.

  1. Find the right course

Choose a listed volunteer who is studying the course you want to discuss. Check their study year and languages.

  2. Ask with consent

Share a display name, your questions and a preferred time. The student can accept or decline. A request is not a confirmed booking.

  3. Wait for arrangements

After acceptance, the team can record an agreed time and meeting details. Track the request in your private community space.

TAKE THESE TO YOUR CONVERSATION

Ask for examples, not promises.

Choose the questions that matter to you. Copy them into your introduction request, or take them to a discussion with your family.

Teaching

Choose at least one question to prepare your list.

One student’s experience is one perspective. Confirm fees, entry rules, accreditation and placement claims with official sources.

A DISCUSSION EVERYONE CAN FOLLOW

Make room for the student’s choice.

A useful family discussion brings interests, costs and practical next steps together. Use the same shortlist, and mark what still needs confirmation.

Start with the student’s interests and preferences. Compare practical options together; the student’s voice matters in the decision.

Start with interests

Let the student explain the subjects and work they enjoy, their preferred place of study and any concerns.

Explore interests

Compare the whole cost

Include every year of tuition, housing, food, travel, insurance and a contingency. Keep unconfirmed scholarships separate from confirmed funds.

Build a budget

Keep evidence beside the option

Save a small course shortlist. Check the official admission criteria, written fee schedule, refund conditions and deadlines before making payments.

Agree the next step

Write down what needs checking, who will check it and when you will discuss it again. If counselling would help, submit an enquiry with the student’s agreement.

Ask for guidance

Ask the student before involving a parent, guardian or another person in a counselling or student conversation.

Share only what the student agrees to share. Leave phone numbers, identity documents and financial account details out of a shared summary.

CURRENTLY ENROLLED?

Help the next student ask better questions.

Volunteer using your real course experience. You choose a public display name and can decline requests or withdraw your profile.

Read community stepsCourse missing? Suggest it first.
  1. Open the student community and choose “Volunteer as a student ambassador”. Sign in before submitting.
  2. Select your exact listed course, study year and languages. Describe how the team can check your current enrolment; do not paste identity documents.
  3. Give explicit consent for a public profile. The team reviews the application and records the enrolment check before a profile can be approved.
  4. After approval, check incoming requests in “My requests”. Accept only conversations you want to have.
What a checked-study badge means
  • The team has recorded a check of the volunteer’s course and current study status. It is not a university endorsement or a guarantee about their advice.
  • Reviews are moderated separately. A published review is not automatically an enrolment-verified review. Ratings are not created or adjusted to promote a course.
  • Constructive criticism is welcome. Keep reviews first-hand and relevant, with no private contact details or identity documents.
